It's like a challenge to represent tattooing in the country where I live(Bangladesh).
As we know, behind every creation there remains a creator. In the same way, art gains it’s perfection with the touch of an artist's hand.
Avijit Saha who took birth in 1990, has a supernatural creative assumption and passion for tattooing which is beyond description. He was very passionate about painting and creative crafting from his childhood. His creativity is not only limited to arts and paintings but also he is one of the top fashion designers and stylists of the city. He kept fashion designing as his first profession but started tattooing as part-time work since 2016.
Avijit has experience with many tattoo styles, such as traditional Japanese, Realism, and black & gray. Though, he makes a constant effort to specialize in all tattoo styles.
He is one of the finest tattoo artists in Bangladesh. His dream is to travel and tattooing people all over the world, also he is trying to educate people of the city about tattooing in every way. He believes in staying “you can never stop growing and increasing your skills as an artist. Inactivity leads to laziness in one’s art. Therefore, I strive to actively seek out any and all opportunities to better myself and my skills as a tattoo artist.
After he completed his complete course in tattoo art, we did a small group discussion with Avijit just to get feedback and understand how was his experience at Aliens Tattoo School. Following is the brief conversation we had about his experience and journey
What were you interested in as a child?
From my childhood, I wanted to be a music director but I was horrible at it, but luckily I was good at drawing, designing, and crafting. All types of creative work attracted me from my childhood.
Were you always an artist?
As I was creative from my childhood, my passion was to create or invent something new. In this sense I was, I am and I will always be an artist.
What is your educational background?
I have completed both my honors and masters in fashion designing from a reputed university in Bangladesh. Apart from my university education I participated in different contests to push my boundaries and learn from every source that I could get.
How did you come to know about your passion for tattooing?
I started my career as a Fashion designer and Stylist and besides that, I started doing tattooing as my hobby. But as my interest grew in tattooing it became my passion.
Did your family support you to follow your passion?
My family supported me fully to follow my passion and I am very lucky to get such support.
How did you come to know about Aliens Tattoo School?
I used to follow the Facebook page of Aliens Tattoo from the very beginning and so I came to know about Aliens Tattoo School through that. I researched their website and made the decision to enroll myself in the course.
How did your parents respond after hearing that you want to join the course?
My parents never stopped me from chasing after my dreams. They let me follow my decision of joining the course. They were supportive and always appreciated me a lot.
What fears you had before joining the course?
Before joining the course I had fear of whether I would be able to adjust or not, as I was coming from a different country.
How was your experience at Aliens Tattoo School?
I had a great experience at Aliens Tattoo School. All my mentors and my fellow learning partners welcomed me cordially. I get in touch with my artists till today and get their suggestions whenever I need them.
What were your expectations regarding the course? Did it meet your expectations?
My expectations were very positive regarding the course. What I achieved through this course is totally beyond my expectations.
Did you face any struggles while progressing through the course?
As I had my family support I did not face that much struggle but I was worried about the course fee. Later I got a scholarship from Aliens Tattoo School for my performance, then I felt quite relieved. Belonging from a different country, I had to return to my country in the middle of my course for some days regarding the extension of time for my visa. For that reason I missed some of my classes, that is the only thing that troubled me.
What were you doing before joining this course?
Before joining this course, I used to work as a professional fashion designer and stylist in media, then started tattooing as my hobby. I thought of transforming my hobby as my second profession for part-time.
What are your plans after finishing this course?
After finishing the course, my plan is to own a tattoo studio and a tattoo training institution in my country to create more tattoo artists and to expand this industry.
How much scope does a tattoo artist have?
It's like a challenge to represent tattooing in the country where I live(Bangladesh). There are very few artists in this sector. As I decided to be a tattoo artist, some people considered me as their competitor. Then I decided to get training from Aliens Tattoo Training School so that I can establish myself as a pro tattoo artist, with higher-level potential than the existing local artists. Today people started to think differently and break the taboo. People are getting attracted to tattooing, it’s really a positive sign.
What is the earning potential of a tattoo artist? How much do you earn per month?
There are some shortages of potential clients, as the people of my country are not ready to get big tattoos so I get small tattoo clients. But still, I earn around 1 to 1.5 lac per month.
How confident are you about tattooing after finishing the course?
After finishing the course, my confidence level has increased a lot. I am very thankful to the Aliens Tattoo School from the bottom of my heart.
Would you be happily tattooing your whole life?
As tattooing is both my hobby and passion, I would love to introduce myself as a happy tattoo artist for my whole life.
