Sunny Ghandat, an exceptionally talented tattoo artist, despite his young age, is making a name for himself in the tattoo industry. We’d say, it is a journey marked by talent, hard work, and a passionate heart for art.
At the tender age of 16, Sunny was unsure about his future. At this point in time, art became his escape and passion, keeping him engaged and curious. From his room, Sunny explored various art forms, including the world of tattooing, which eventually sparked a journey that would shape his future.
With newfound tattooing skills and knowledge from countless online tutorials, Sunny bought his own tattoo machine and began his journey by taking small tattoo projects. While his friends followed traditional career paths, Sunny dared to forge his own. And by the age of 17, he was a self-employed tattoo artist, balancing various tattoo projects with his studies. In time, his passion for tattooing got stronger each day and this is why upon graduating, Sunny made the bold, life-changing decision to pursue the art of tattooing full-time, fully committing to the art he deeply loved.
Despite the positive feedback from his small tattoo projects, Sunny felt something was missing. He longed to create larger, more impactful art and knew he had to seize every moment. As he was determined to learn from the best, he approached several reputed tattoo studios for an apprenticeship. However, he faced repeated rejections, as many doubted his potential due to his young age.
Sunny's determination knew no bounds. Finally, he found a tattoo studio willing to take him in, but like all tattoo apprentices, he had to work long hours on tasks that were completely unrelated to tattooing. Frustrated by the lack of artistic growth, he made the tough choice to quit the job after two working months.
In time, Sunny found a beacon of hope right when he discovered Aliens Tattoo Art School, knowing that it would be a safe space for him to enhance his artistic abilities without any compromise. Enrolling himself in the six-month diploma course, he pushed his limits, learned the art of tattooing with pure dedication and started creating amazing artwork, one that he had never inked before.
Surrounded by award-winning mentors and friends who fueled his creativity, Sunny's work transformed rapidly. His dedication and passion quickly earned him a spot in the Aliens Tattoo Internship Program, a position that is ideally reserved for the top 10% of students who demonstrate exceptional progress and talent.
Completing the internship marked a new chapter in Sunny's journey. He joined Aliens Tattoo as a resident tattoo artist, starting in Bangalore and later moving to Chennai. His portfolio grew to showcase breathtaking tattoos in various tattoo styles. Currently specializing in realism tattoo art, he is also exploring the art of calligraphy alongside. Sunny's consistency in creating amazing tattoos and constantly outdoing himself further earned him the opportunity to represent Aliens Tattoo at renowned tattoo conventions.
One of the most awaited tattoo conventions in India, Kula, features participants from all over the world. Sunny was given the opportunity to showcase his incredible artistry at the 2023 edition of the event. His hard work paid off as he won the title of ‘Best Emerging Artist’ for his tattoo work around David of Michelangelo, which was a perfect fusion of graffiti and surrealism on a sculpture portrait. Sunny's journey didn't stop there. He was awarded an exclusive scholarship from Cheyenne Tattoo Equipment, a leading brand in the tattoo industry and has also been featured in the renowned London-based Total Tattoo Magazine for his work.
Sunny is now a full-time tattoo artist for Aliens Tattoo Studio, fulfilling a dream that many aspiring tattoo artists hold dear. He now credits his success to the continued practice and discipline that he stands by. During his course at Aliens Tattoo Art School, he dedicated 7-8 hours a day to perfecting every line and dot in his work. His dedication and the support of everyone around him at Aliens have shaped him into the extraordinary tattoo artist that he is today.
From a teenager seeking inspiration to an award-winning tattoo artist, Sunny's journey has been beyond inspiring. He has proven that age is no barrier to talent, setting a strong example for young creatives across the country. Sunny's story is now a witness to the fact that with determination, passion, and the right guidance, dreams can indeed become a reality.
